I need YOUR help ;P

with character development

So if any of you have parents / aunts / uncles / family friends, or know anyone in their 40's, preferably early to mid rather than late, no matter how remotely, leave me some information please?

just like, male or female, approx. age, if they have children and if so how many, etc
their jobs
if they've had any other jobs, if so, what were they, how long did they keep them for
what they do in their spare time, in family time, their hobbies, interests, favourite tv shows even
what things are important to them, what concerns them, what world events catch their attention
blah blah blah
what do they talk about a lot, do they bring up old memories much or talk about the future, or present, or recent memories?
do they talk about / see family; parents, siblings, nephews, nieces, etc
and how they feel about their in laws
just anything, pretty much
thanks (:

  1. Hi,

    I have an aunt.

Female, 48, no children, no husband.
Holds a PhD in clinical therapy with degrees in related fields and has been in this field for twelve years.

She reads a lot of books and articles to do with her profession and likes to spend time with my grandparents. She plays the violin, she's vegetarian, she likes watching game shows and the news, and helping the elderly is something she does at home and at work.

She doesn't talk very much. It probably comes from being a clinical therapist as she likes to listen to others' problems and try to help them through it. She's very kind and very understanding when it comes to people.

    Hope that helps,

    Michael.

  4. Ah kay. I always mean to, and then nearly always forget. And if I do then I get frustrated at the notification email telling me that I left a comment on the post, which I am, strangely ;P, already actually aware of...

  7. How about me...
Alan, 44, white male, raised in Louisiana, moved to Houston Texas last 16 years.
Lessing consultant, boring job. Usually dissatisfied with jobs, would like to complete degree in... bilology, or primatology, or archeology. I sure do love the 'ologys'.
Owned online bookstore for several years, successful, bored of working at home in pajamas alone.
Has known three lottery winners, not close enough to share with me! One, former co-worker, 31 million, 2 years later shot and killed himslef. Coldly I wonder more about the $$$ than the man.
Parents passed away, $200,000 house to be sold has couse three older siblings to not talk to each other,, just to him, meaning me. (Having first and third issues!)
Statment most appled to me-"You are wasting your talents here. You... are smart enough to do anything... have the potential and brains I got gypped on... are an artistic talent, you should do that... could be a comedian, what are you working here for".
Ah well, gotta go, goofing off at work.

Picks on Vodka Mom for a hobby. Reads, plays the occasional computer game. I'd love to get fiction published. I will take comfort and a stress-free lifestyle over salary any day.

  9. Loads of my friends are 40-something... they act much the same as anyone else!!

Regarding family, some have been married 2 decades and have teenage children, others just married/just thinking about procreating. So for fiction you can pretty much pick what you like.

Ping me if you want more examples because I could easily go on all day... :)
